Safety First at Total Eye Care During The COVID 19 Pandemic

Our Plan to Keep Both Patients and Staff Safe

Covid 19 Clean Practice ProtocolThe safety of our families, patients, and staff is our primary concern. We want to make you aware of what we are doing at Total Eye Care to make you and our staff safe during the COVID 19 Pandemic.

Clean Practice Protocol™

At Total Eye Care we have adopted the Clean Practice Protocol™ in response to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Many of the items we discuss below you will notice when you are in the office. However, many of the Clean Practice Protocol™ procedures happen behind the scenes. Here are some of the important, behind the scene items.

We have instituted disinfection schedules where our team members clean all touch surfaces throughout the day whether someone touch the surface or not. We also clean all surfaces touched by our patients as they leave an area. This includes cleaning each designated surface in our exam rooms after each exam, the testing equipment, front desk, reception room, and optical area. However, in many cases surfaces will be cleaned before and after each patient.

You may be wondering about trying on eye glass frames. Feel free to try on any frame you wish. Once you are done with your selection we will clean and disinfect each frame before we put it back.

Pre-Register

Before your visit we encourage you to pre-register online by visiting our registration page. Via a HIPAA compliant secure link you will be able to enter your medical history and insurance information, saving you 10 to 20 minutes and decreasing your exposure.

Let’s Mask Up!

Covid 19 wear a maskIf you have a mask please wear it when you arrive at the office. If you do not have a mask we will give you one. Please wear your mask the entire time you are in the office.

Screening Questions

Once you have your mask on we will ask you the following screening questions.

In the past 2 weeks, have you experienced any of the following?

    • Fever, cough, trouble breathing?
    • Cold and flu symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, body aches?
    • Body rash with fever?
    • Traveled outside of the country?
    • Were you tested positive for COVID-19?
    • Have you had contact with a person who was diagnosed with COVID-19?

If the answer to any of these is yes then we will need to reschedule your appointment two weeks from today.

In addition, our team members must acknowledge these very same questions every morning along with having their temperature checked.

What is Your Temperature?

Lastly, we will check your temperature. If it is >99.5 we will need to reschedule your appointment.

Hand Washing – The Most Effective Way to Protect Ourselves from COVID 19

Once you enter the office you will have an opportunity to use hand sanitizer or wash your hands. Hopefully, you already pre-registered so we can get your appointment started right away.

Social Distancing

Social Distance COVID 19Please maintain the recommended 6 foot separation as much as possible. You will notice we have removed some of our chairs to maintain appropriate separation which gives us less seating. Therefore, we ask that you come alone to your exam. If you need a driver or are accompanying a child that is having an exam please limit additional people to one additional person.

We look forward to Seeing You!

It may sound like a lot but during the shelter in place order we have been seeing patients on an urgent basis. We’ve had practice. It actually runs quite smoothly. The staff and doctors will also be wearing masks while you are in the office and we all look forward to seeing you again soon.
